Washington, D.C. and the Civil War by Mark Ozer

Ozer’s well-illustrated histories of the District range from neighborhood tours to profiles of the residents of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to close looks at the city’s monuments, mansions, and street signs. His latest study focuses on D.C.’s role during the Civil War, and, in turn, the war’s lasting impact on the capital, still visible in many buildings and institutions.
