Earth Day Family Gardening Kathy Sykes

Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Kathy Sykes leads a pollinator walk along Connecticut Ave corridor.

Date: Saturday April 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00pm

Research findings from “Nature’s Best Hope” by Doug Tallamy and keystone plants will be discussed to ensure that your garden is able to attract and support the pollinators that are rapidly declining due to habitat loss, climate change and pesticide use.

Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Kathy Sykes will walk families through the basics of planting a garden and the best ways to keep pollinators live during spring planting.

Additional information on native trees, shrubs and plants that attract pollinators will be shared so you can choose what best fits your gardening space, even if garden space is in a container. The information will help you create year-round interest for bees, hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators.
