‘Pictures on the Radio’: Celebrating David Gilkey’s Work
Join NPR and Politics and Prose Bookstore to celebrate renowned conflict photojournalist David Gilkey, whose work is compiled in the upcoming book Pictures on the Radio (powerHouse Books, 2021). Gilkey helped bring vivid life to big and small stories with global impact, chronicling pain and beauty in war and conflict. He was killed by the Taliban while on assignment in 2016.
At this virtual event, NPR's Renee Montagne, who traveled extensively with Gilkey, will interview Quil Lawrence and Chip Somodevilla, who edited Pictures on the Radio. All three will share memories and reflect on Gilkey’s photographs and his drive to document the ground truth of America’s wars. They’ll also take questions from audience members like you.
Instead of a set ticket price, we ask that you contribute what you can to support NPR’s virtual events. You can support P&P by purchasing a book from their website. We’re grateful for your support, now and always.
